Artist Statement

I paint landscapes, florals, still lifes, abstracts and whatever subject matter that interests me. Most of my landscapes, still life and florals are from photos I've taken of places I've been and flowers that have caught my eye. My style is realistic but I also like to occasionally paint in a looser style, especially when I do work that is more abstract. I work mostly in watercolors but also in colored pencil and acrylics. I also occasionally work in charcoal, oil pastels and pencil, and I'm now starting to experiment with water mixable oils. The medium I use depends on what I think would best depict the particular subject matter. I'm also happy to do commissioned portraits from photographs of people and pets, or whatever subject someone might be interested in, as long as the quality of the photograph is good, I can paint just about anything. The medium I work in when doing portraits is watercolor, colored pencil or pencils. If you see something you like that is posted as "Sold", it is most likely available as a print. If you have comments or questions about any of my art or would like to discuss having a portrait done from a photograph, please email me at ricktuthill1@comcast.net or call me: 425-348-4397. Thank You
